Social Action

Alzheimer’s Project

The Alzheimer’s Project of Tallahassee is free of charge to caregivers and their loved ones who have been admitted to the project. The Alzheimer’s Project group meets every Monday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Temple Israel. The day is filled with activities such as seated yoga, music, arts and crafts, puzzles, walks, games, and bingo. Individuals may also take some “down time” to chat with a friend, flip through a magazine, or just relax. Morning snack and lunch are provided for our guests. For more information, please contact the Alzheimer’s Project.

Kearney Center

On the fifth Sunday of each month, Temple Israel provides volunteers to cook and serve food at the Shelter, to bring donations of fruit and salad, and to talk about and pray for an end to food instability in Leon County and beyond. Monetary donations are also welcome. For more information, please contact Isabelle Potts and Stevie Fenton.

Meals on Wheels

Each Labor Day, Temple Israel members and friends prepare and deliver Meals on Wheels. Without our help, meals would not be delivered on this holiday. Kitchen help is needed from 8:30 - 10:30 AM, and delivery help is needed from 10:15 AM to noon. For more information, please contact Mary McCormick.

Ronald McDonald House

Each year on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, volunteers from Temple Israel help staff the Ronald McDonald House of Tallahassee. Shifts run on these two days from noon - 3:00 PM, 6:00 - 9:00 PM, and 9:00 PM - 9:00 AM. For more information, please contact Karen Culpepper.
